First look at Hanoi

After landing in Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam, I took a taxi straight to the Old Quarter of the city close to Hoan Kiem lake, which is a popular backpackers’ area. I checked into a dormitory in one of the youth hostels, and fixed up a dinner meeting with Pavi.

In the late evening, I went for a stroll around the Hoan Kiem lake, which is a beautiful locality spread around the peaceful lake. It has a very old world charm about it, a little like Fort Kochi in Cochin. The lakeside seemed to be a popular place among young couples. PDA is rather big here, and after a while, it becomes a bit much.

Met Pavi around there; the first time after her wedding party. Devang, her hubby, was still in Korea; but Pavi had to move to Hanoi because of her job. She was also very new to the city, and hadn’t had an opportunity to look around the city much. Over dinner, we made plans of exploring the city a little bit tomorrow.
